Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using PapaChat ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

PapaChat is a messaging application for closed communities. Users can create or join communities, participate in group conversations, and send direct messages to other community members.

Communities are invite-only or request-based. New members join via an invite code shared by an existing member, or by submitting a join request that must be approved by a community administrator. Each community has a maximum capacity of 50 members.

3. Account Registration and Community Membership

To use PapaChat, you must:

• Sign in using your Apple ID via Sign in with Apple
• Create a profile with a display name
• Join or create at least one community
• Choose a unique username within each community you join

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID and for all activities that occur under your account.

Community usernames are unique within each community and are freed for reuse if you leave the community or delete your account. Invite codes expire after 24 hours and are single-use.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use PapaChat to:

• Send spam, unsolicited messages, or bulk communications
• Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users
• Post content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
• Impersonate other users or entities
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful software
• Collect or harvest user data without consent
• Use the App for any illegal purpose

5. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of content you create and share through PapaChat. By posting content, you grant PapaChat a non-exclusive, worldwide license to transmit and display your content to other users within your communities.

You are solely responsible for the content you share. PapaChat does not pre-screen user content but reserves the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

6. Content Moderation

PapaChat provides tools for content moderation:

• Reporting: Users can report messages they find objectionable
• Blocking: Users can block other users to hide their messages
• Admin Controls: Community administrators can remove members and review reports

We take reports seriously and will investigate violations in a timely manner. Repeated violations may result in account suspension or termination.

7. Leaving Communities and Account Termination

Leaving a Community: You may leave any community at any time from Settings. Leaving a community will:

• Remove your membership and free your community username for reuse
• Remove you from all groups and group conversations in that community
• Preserve your previous messages (they remain visible to other participants)

Deleting Your Account: You may delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account. Account deletion will:

• Remove your profile and personal information
• Anonymize your messages (displayed as "Deleted User" to other participants)
• Remove you from all communities and groups
• Cancel any pending join requests
• Free all your community usernames for reuse
• Revoke your Sign in with Apple authorization

By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in harmful behavior, or if required by law. We will attempt to notify you before taking action, except where immediate action is necessary.

8. Intellectual Property

PapaChat and its original content (excluding user-generated content) are the property of PapaChat and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

PapaChat is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PapaChat shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the App.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted in the App with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
